Per aspera ad astra
"Through hardships to the stars" - also applies to the hermit crabs of Maldives. This one I met on a tiny uninhabited islet in North Malé atoll. Hermit crabs are plentiful on Maldives' sandy beaches and you can often see them lugging their home around. Sometimes it is a small round shell, sometimes a large jagged one. On inhabited islands they also use tin cans and other man-made trinkets. Friendly and harmless, they are only annoying if you decide to spend the night sleeping on the beach.
