Afternoon clouds rolling in
Langtang village used to be the largest settlement in Langtang valley. It was also the hardest hit when ground started shaking on the 25th of April 2015. A massive avalanche came down from the white peaks high above the village and engulfed the entire upper valley, burying everything in meters of dirt and slush. Hundreds of locals and trekkers perished that day. Many remain missing. Now, two months later, the entire valley has been evacuated and declared a no-go zone by the Nepali army.
Langtang valley looks rugged and primal, but an air of calm and serenity envelops the place. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. If and how people will return here, remains unknown for now, but when it happens, I will return.
